It isn’t easy, but it can be done. We’re going to go over that process for you here today, so stick around!
Why Should I Make My ROXOR Street Legal?
Sure, your local cops may not really care if your ROXOR is street legal, After all they may confuse it with a Jeep. But, its best you go ahead and fully comply with legal standards if you’re going to drive on the street. This will help keep you more protected if something happens to go wrong while you’re out. We’re speaking legally here as well as physically.
The Process
There are 3 main things to consider when you are thinking about making your UTV street legal: getting all of the paperwork in place, knowing the specific regulations and laws of your jurisdiction, and getting as many street legal parts on your UTV as you possibly can.
- Your Paperwork: It’s not as easy as walking into the DMV and getting a plate for your UTV. You will need to get a title, a license plate, and insurance. This process will take time, but it’s a very important step.
- Know the Rules: Every jurisdiction is going to have its own set of regulations to follow when it comes to street legal UTVs. While many are the same, you need to make sure that you are intimately familiar with your specific area just to be safe. For example, some communities in Florida have different rules regarding UTVs from those nearby. Knowing what the rules are is the best way to avoid breaking them.
- Outfitting With ROXOR Street Legal Parts: This is where the hard work comes into play. If you are going to make your UTV street legal, you need to have all the right parts. Getting as many parts that you would find on a car onto your UTV as possible is the goal.
- Headlights: While your UTV may come with a set already, you need to make sure that they fit the legal requirement for brightness. The law in Florida requires that your headlights shine 150 feet down the road on low beams and 450 feet with high beams.
- Turn Signals, Taillights, and Reverse Lights: Finding a signal kit for your UTV should be easy, as is the installation process. Your UTV may already have taillights, but you can find those as well if you need them. You’ll need to make sure you comply with the rules about brake lights in your area, as well.
- Horn: The state of Florida requires that all vehicles have a horn that can be heard from at least 200 ft away. Finding a kit for this is easy and should be a priority.
- Windshield: Having a DOT-approved glass windshield is a requirement in most states.
- Tires: Again, you will need to have DOT-approved tires before your ROXOR can be street legal.
- Mirror: Florida only requires one mirror, which needs to be able to see 200 ft behind you.
